Consideration of Aged Care Queensland Guidelines

I
n May 2001, Aged Care Qld., an association of village owners, produced a paper which they titled " Classification for expenditure to Maintenance Reserve Fund and Capital Replacement Fund." Almost needless to say, our Association Found very little in it to support. We, in our turn, produced a response to those guidelines which we submitted to Government as part of our submissions to the Review of the Retirement Villages Act 1999.Those ACQ guidelines have been sent to village scheme operators, some of whom are following them, when it suits them. We make it clear that the ARQRV does not support them, they have not been approved by Government and they do not have the force of law. Following are those ACQ guidelines and the ARQRV responses to them.

COTA  (Queensland)   -  Council On The Ageing

(COTA Queensland) protects and promotes the well-being of all older people in Queensland.  To this end, it aims to mobilise older people, those who work with them, Government and the community towards achieving a well-being and social justice for older people.  It is part of the federated movement of COTA's that have existed for over 40 years in every State and Territory of Australia.  Thus, it operates at a State and National level.  COTA Queensland was the auspice for the formation of the ARQRV and provided support and guidance to the Association to the point at which ARQRV incorporated and beyond.

QCAT  -  Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal

President's Message

QCAT’s aim is to provide accessible, cost effective and informal tribunal services for a wide range of matters affecting the community. The tribunal will hear a variety of matters including tenancy and building disputes, guardianship and discrimination matters as well as professional and vocational disciplinary proceedings.

To ensure QCAT can deliver fair and speedy justice the new tribunal has retained the specialist skills and knowledge of the many former tribunals which have now become part of it.

A number of important reforms have been introduced to ensure people involved with QCAT understand its decisions and to improve the quality of its decision making. These reforms include providing all parties to proceedings with reasons for the decision made and in some circumstances, the right to appeal those decisions.

QCAT aims to provide to all Queenslanders with a modern and progressive tribunal – one that is accessible to all members of our community.  Whenever and wherever you need its services QCAT will strive to ensure you receive high levels of professional service and assistance from its staff.

QCAT heralds a new era for Queensland’s justice system.
